Title: Footprints
Players:
Robb Hunt - Organ
Alan Levine - Drums
Oliver Hunt - Drums
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Robb Hunt began as a classically trained pianist but soon developed a keen interest in jazz following studies with jazz piano legend Lennie Tristano. While in the Army, Hunt toured with a jazz piano trio making numerous concerts and television appearances. Following this tenure, he undertook extensive Hammond "B-3" organ work for recording and live performances with numerous rhythm and blues stars.
Known as both an organist and a pianist in and around New York metropolitan area, Hunt worked in a variety of settings with his trio both as a featured artist as well as backing known soloist. In 1975, he recorded a trio effort "Robb Hunt Trio Live at SUNY" (now out of print) that was praised by reviewers in the New York area.
After a lengthy hiatus devoted to business pursuits, Footprints" marks Hunt's re-emergence as a major presence on organ in an adventurous organ/drums duo setting accompanied by long-time associate drummer Alan Levine. Hunt is frequently seen at various San Francisco Bay area venues in performances with his son, Oliver, a 12-year old trumpet phenomenon with whom he is currently producing a CD planned for release in the summer of 2000 to be distributed under the Music in the Vines label.
